I'm a third year medical student in the Caribbean aspiring to be an Orthopedic Surgeon that helps break the barriers of inequity, disparities and injustice that may linger in what I believe to be the best field in medicine.

I am an ECFMG-certified U.S. IMG with all Step exams completed. I recently finished a transitional year in Puerto Rico, where I remained active in orthopaedics by assisting in the OR, managing ER consults, and participating in outpatient trauma care. I also completed an orthopaedic research fellowship at UAB, contributing to several peer-reviewed publications. To broaden my skill set, I am currently pursuing opportunities as a surgical assistant. At the same time, I continue to seek orthopaedic residency and research opportunities while maintaining active involvement in both clinical and academic settings.

I am José Zuniga. I am an orthopedist from Peru with a special interest in children's orthopedics.
